A new website version V4.0
Electronscape has been rebuilt with a completely new design and a custom article system. Here’s what changed, why I rebuilt it, and what’s coming next.
A New Electronscape Website
Why the old website needed replacing.
The old website served me well, but it relied heavily on WordPress and a number of third-party plugins. That meant using more server space, more bandwidth, and carrying a lot of features I simply never needed.
I’ve learned a lot from WordPress and how it works — mostly — but Electronscape only needs a small part of what it offers.
The idea behind the rebuild was simple: strip out everything unnecessary, keep only the features I actually use, and make the website lighter, faster, and easier to maintain.

Old Style

The old website used a much lighter colour scheme. It worked well enough, but to me it always felt a little too close to the usual mainstream website style.
With so many screens, apps, and websites becoming increasingly bright and visually busy, I’ve found darker themes much easier on the eyes.
I’ll admit, though — I am going to miss those colours.
The New Design
The new electric-blue colour scheme was inspired by a much older project I worked on around 2009.
It was a touchscreen interface using a very similar set of colours and visual elements. I even created a matching theme for my Sony Ericsson K800i, using the same style and features.
So although the website design is new, the theme itself is a return to something I created many years ago.
Electronscape is all about projects, experiments, and ideas — and hopefully it will soon become the home of SIDBOX, my main project.
